Holiday Gift Program 2019

Help spread holiday cheer with The Aliveness Project during the annual Holiday Gift Program.  This year, the Aliveness tradition will feature: games, entertainment, winter wear items give-away, homemade cookies, stockings, poinsettias for members to take home, and a delicious holiday meal.  Gifts will be mailed or delivered to members with mobility impairment or other medical concerns.  There are tons of ways to be involved!

FOR MEMBERS:

The 2019 Holiday Gift Program is now closed for applications. Applications were due November 1, 2019. If you have questions regarding your application, please reach out to Zay at [email protected] or call 612-822-7946 ext. 222. We will be calling people in late November.

FOR EVERYONE:

VOLUNTEER (from your home, workplace, or place of worship):

Bake Cookies

Bake your favorite holiday cookies, package them by the dozen, and bring to The Aliveness Project.  Cookies will be distributed to members during the Holiday Giveaway & Party and included in deliveries.

COOKIE DROP-OFF DATES & TIMES
Saturday, December 14: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Monday, December 16: 9:00 AM -7:00 PM

Tuesday, December 17: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Decorate Tags / Make Cards

Decorate tags used to label each bag and/or make cards to be included with each member’s gift.  Personal touches to holiday gifts make a huge difference!  Tags and cards are due by Wednesday, December 12.

Sew Stockings

Download our Stocking Pattern! Stockings are due by Wednesday, December 11.

Organize a Donation Drive

Organize a winter accessory donation drive in your workplace, place of worship, gym, etc. and receive materials and a speaker (if desired) from Aliveness to help promote it.  Download the Drive Packet for more details and ideas.  All donation drives are due by Wednesday, December 11.

Giveaway & Party Set Up/Tear Down

Early December

Set-up tables, fill tables with toys and winter accessories, and decorate the space.

Friday, December 21

Inventory and box up all left over winter accessories, toys, other items and tear down tables.

Holiday Giveaway & Party

Wednesday, December 18

Shifts: 11:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM

During the Holiday Giveaway & Party, volunteers lead members through the giveaway as they pick out warm winter accessories, toys for their dependent children, cookies, and stockings.  Volunteers may also manage cookie/toy/winter accessory stations, wrap gifts, or help load gifts into member vehicles.  Additionally, volunteers assist with the party in the dining room by leading games and cookie decorating, assisting in the kitchen, or visiting with members.

Deliver Holiday Gifts

Friday, December 20

Shifts*: On the hour, from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

*each shift is 2-3 hours depending on delivery area

Deliver gifts to members in the Twin Cities metro area who are mobility impaired or unable to attend the Holiday Giveaway & Party due to medical issues.  Choose your preferred area/neighborhood, pick up gifts at The Aliveness Project, and make 2-5 deliveries.  Enjoy some snacks on us!

DONATE:

-New warm winter accessory items: hats, waterproof gloves, scarves, and wool socks.  The biggest need is for items in adult sizes large and extra-large in neutral colors, such as black, blue, green, and brown.  All items should be unwrapped. Please have all winter accessory items to The Aliveness Project by Wednesday, December 11.

-Gift card as prizes for the Holiday Giveaway & Party.

-If you would like to donate monetarily, simply indicate your donation is for the Holiday Gift Program.

Throughout November/December please bring all items to Aliveness:

-Mondays-Thursdays: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

-Fridays: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Please ask for Laura at the front desk when you bring donations.

Donation Collection Extended Hours: 

-Saturday, December 14: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

-Monday December 16: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

-Tuesday, December 17: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
