The Aliveness Project is excited to announce they were awarded a grant for $1,000,000 through a federal funding investment from U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Tina Smith (D-MN) in Congressionally Directed Spending. These funds will be used to construct and expand a new HIV prevention and sexual health clinic with a specialized pharmacy in the Twin Cities. Aliveness Project partnered with Pride Institute to support this grant request and we are excited about our continued partnership regarding the expansion of providing services to the LGBTQ2s+ community, specifically individuals with behavioral and chemical health needs.
“This is a transformative investment in innovative HIV Care and Prevention. Thanks to Senator Klobuchar and Senator Smith, we can achieve an END to HIV in Minnesota.” Matt Toburen Executive Director at Aliveness Project.
“We are always excited to support our community partners, especially those who champion our mission of addiction recovery for LGBTQ2s+ individuals. We are thankful to the Aliveness Project for their continued efforts in HIV education and testing for our clients. Our entire community will benefit from their expansion efforts and we are honored to take part in this work!” Al Updike CEO of Pride Institute
It takes a village to support the LGBTQ2s+ recovery community and we are honored to play our part as we champion LGBTQ2s+ equality in healthcare. As our long-term community partner, we are lucky to have Pride Insitute host on-site weekly meetings to offer clients expertise in safer sex practices, reducing shame & stigma and education around and testing for HIV. The expansion of the clinic will allow for an increased number of LGBTQ+ persons to be served through our clinical services.
“Our goal is to provide our community as much care as possible.” Says Matthew Hoppe, Director of Clinical Services at Aliveness Project. “We are excited to do this work to continue our mission, to serve the needs of our LGBTQ+ community by being a place of hope and healing.”
